Trainimals is a dynamic business with one main goal: We would like to help and guide you. As a dog owner it is easy and good fun.
Trainimals will teach you how to communicate, give your dog everything it needs and deserves. At the same time giving you, “the dog owner”, peace of mind and real pride in your mate.
Our dogs must listen out of respect and not because they fear their owner. So as owners we have to learn to gain the respect of our canine pals. Every dog is an individual, just like humans they have their moods, their personality quirks and their funny little ways, but the training principles are very clear and straight forward. Working on a model that is based on positive rewarding techniques, we get results by communication with the dogs on their own level. We use the same pack dynamics as their primary ancestors the wolves.
Who is involved? Trainimals is owned and operated by Els Desart, a very enthusiastic person with a genuine passion for all dogs. Els has always been around dogs, eight years ago she started working with them in a professional capacity. Now in Christchurch New Zealand, Els has established Trainimals as a formal training facility which is fully insured under public liability policy.
“My first rescue was Dot, a lovely little girl of mixed breed - for those of you who have second thoughts about rescue dogs, let me tell you that she is one in a million. But I was determined she was going to be trained properly right from the start. I enrolled Dot at two dog schools ’De Roedel Brecht’ and ’KHS Merksem’, known for their positive reinforcement training. From a terrified, distrusting wreck; Dot became the celebrity of the neighbourhood. Dits, a purebred Border Collie has now also joined our family, and we all immigrated to New Zealand together.”
Els qualified formally as a Dog Trainer in Europe, working with dogs and their owners and often circumventing, unnecessary and painful re-homing of a dog, because the owner could not cope.
Bottom line, it is not so much the perfection of the commands that count, but the fact that you can take your dogs anywhere and be absolutely confident that you will be in control. |
